Kenneth E. Siegle Obituary – 1/20/2013


Kenneth E. Siegle, age 79, of Norwood, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

He was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Dahlgren Township, the son of Hilary and Germaine (Mohrbacher) Siegle. Ken was baptized and confirmed at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Carver.

He was a graduate of Chaska High School, and served in the Navy for eight years.

Ken was united in marriage to Irene E. Schlechter Sept. 15, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia by Father Kauer.

Farming was Ken’s life, and he enjoyed every aspect of it. Ken was farming until he had a stroke in November of 2011.

He adored his grandchildren, taking them along with him wherever he was going. Ken would never pass up going to an auction or a chance to fish a local lake. He enjoyed old tyme music, and Thirsty Thursday was his favorite day of the week.

Ken was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Waconia.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Bigaouette; parents Hilary and Germaine Siegle; father-in-law and mother-in-law Peter and Anna Schlechter; brothers-in-law Al Johnson, Joe Essig and Donald Schlechter; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Ralph Kelzer.

Ken is survived by his loving family: wife Irene; children and spouses Barb Bigaouette and Jeff O’Brien, Connie and Dan Witt, Dave Siegle and Lisa, all of Belle Plaine, Jeff and Melissa Siegle, Tim and Julie Siegle, all of Norwood, Ann and Johan Miller of Belle Plaine, and Bruce and Tina Siegle of Norwood; grandchildren Chris and Jenny Witt, Nicole and Dave Fleming, Ashley Witt and fiancé Justin, Rachel Witt, Jessica and Jim Fogarty, Sara and Joey Effertz, Lindsay Siegle and Ryan, Jake Siegle, Zach Siegle, Nick Siegle, Abbie Siegle, Derek Siegle, Dillon Siegle, Andrew Siegle, Brady Siegle, Lucas Siegle, Ryan Siegle, Victoria Miller, Kaitlyn Siegle, and Devin Siegle; and great-grandchildren Bryce and London.

He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis and Gladys Siegle of Waconia, Leon and Joan Siegle of Chaska, Glen and Judy Siegle of Grand Marias, Ronald and Sharon Siegle of Chaska, Thomas and Ratana Siegle of Las Vegas, Stan and Barbara Siegle of Mankato, and Dale and Cheryl Siegle of Colorado; sisters and brother-in-law Doris and Art McNabb of Plymouth, and Lois Siegle of St. Anthony; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Sister Rosaria Schlechter SLW of St. Paul, Elaine Schlechter of New Germany, LaVerne Kirsch of Waconia, and George and Diane Schlechter of Delano; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine with Fr. Sam Perez as celebrant. Interment was at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Faxon Township.

Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Friday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Casket bearers were Ken’s grandsons: Chris Witt, Jake Siegle, Zach Siegle, Lucas Siegle, Ryan Siegle, Nick Siegle, Dillon Siegle, Derek Siegle, Andrew Siegle, Brady Siegle, and Devin Siegle.
