Robert A. Swanson, age 80, formerly of Buffalo, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born July 19, 1932, in Starbuck, MN, the son of Harold and Minnie Sodergren Swanson.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army in Korea from 1952-1953.
Bob was joined in holy marriage with Delilah M. Rentz Feb. 11, 1956, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo by Pastor Berwald. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Bob was formerly employed as a tool and dye maker for Precise Products and UMC.
He was a member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Bob enjoyed his work shop, and when he made something, it “lasted forever.”
He is survived by three children: Vicki Swanson of Delano, David Swanson of Waverly and special friend Dawn Johnson, and Robin (Joe) Menard of Howard Lake; grandchildren Christina (Shrial) Baksh, Matthew (Jillayne) Menard, Jeremy Swanson, and Joshua Menard and special friend Galina Kaul; and great-grandchildren Morgan and Megan Hesse, Jaiden Baksh, Connor and Caylee Menard, and Mason and Hunter Swanson.
Bob is further survived by a brother, Rod (Carol) Swanson; sisters Carol (Don) Johnson and Shirley (Bill) Mechels; a sister-in-law, Shirley Scott; special niece Jackie Swanson; nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, “Squeaks.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delilah M. Swanson Jan. 10, 2012; and by his parents, Harold and Minnie Swanson.
Funeral services took place Thursday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford with Pastor Michael Barlow officiating. There was visitation at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services. Interment with military rites was at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
Casket bearers were Joshua Menard, Matthew Menard, Jeremy Swanson, Christina Baksh, Shrial Baksh, and Michael Daniels.
