Robert John Telecky, age 69, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Hutchinson Health.
He was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Hutchinson, the son of Fred and Emily (Majzner) Telecky. Robert was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at the Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake.
He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1962.
Robert entered active military service in the United States Army July 30, 1962, and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge July 29, 1965.
Robert was united in marriage to Regina Kaufmann Aug. 12, 1967, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Kendra, Krista, and Rachel. The family resided on a farm north of Hutchinson for many years. Robert and Regina shared 46 years of marriage.
In addition to farming for many years, Bob was employed by Goebel Fixture Company in Hutchinson as a maintenance foreman, retiring in June of 2011.
Bob was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96, and Hutchinson VFW Post 906.
Bob’s hobbies included woodworking, as well as all the joys of farming. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren playing sports and showing horses.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He had interest in old tractors, loved polka music, and dancing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends, and “RFD TV” every Saturday night.
Robert is survived by his wife, Regina Telecky of Hutchinson; children, Kendra Telecky (Chuck Buss) of Hutchinson, Krista Winterfeldt (Bryan Winterfeldt) of Dassel, and Rachel Telecky (Donny Swanson) of Hutchinson; grandchildren Kellyn Buss, Dustin Telecky, Devin Swanson, and Donovan Swanson; sisters-in-law Bernie Telecky, and Ilse Hansen and her husband, Henry; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emily Telecky; a sister, Mary Jane Huffmann and her husband, Norbert; and brothers Howard Telecky, and Roger Telecky and his wife, Ginny.
A memorial service took place Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson, with military honors provided by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Family and friends gathered Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, and again Wednesday from 8 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
Arrangements were handled by the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
