Dorothy M. (Gasper) Theis, age 94, of Buffalo, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at The Golden Living Center in Delano.
She was born April 14, 1919, in Loretto, the daughter of Fred C. and Olga M. Bethke Gasper.
Dorothy was baptized May 4, 1919, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood; and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover by the Rev. W. Beiswanger. Her memory verse was “Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it.” Luke 11:28
Dorothy was joined in holy marriage with Wilbert Theis Nov. 4, 1939. God blessed their marriage with four children: Janeal, Terry, Gary, and Tim.
In addition to being a homemaker, Dorothy was also a store clerk.
She was a member of the Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Janeal (Dick) Schneerman of Hackensack, Gary (Val) Theis of Mound, and Tim Theis of Greenfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great, great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred C. and Olga M. Gasper; her husband, Wilbert Theis; a son, Terry Theis; and by two brothers, Marvin and Lloyd Gasper.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, July 24 at 1 p.m. at Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Golden Valley with Pastor Dan Matasovsky officiating. Special music was provided by Ju Sun Kim. Congregational hymns were “Abide with Me” and “On Eagles Wings.”Interment was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
There was visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.
