Ralphine E. Wallman Obituary – 10/17/2013


Ralphine Eleanor Wallman, age 91, of Delano, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at her home at The Legacy in Delano after a brief illness.

She was born July 9, 1922, in Minneapolis, to parents Ralph and Myrtle Rasmussen.

Ralphine graduated from West High School in Minneapolis.

She was married to Theodore Richard Wallman (Bud) in 1941, a marriage that lasted 50 years.

The family moved from Minneapolis to Richfield in 1949, and then to Rockford. in 1972, where she lived until moving to The Legacy in Delano.

Besides raising three daughters, Ralphine worked for many years taking care of the office for her husband’s auto repair business (Bud’s Garage) in Richfield, and after that, for many years at National School Studios. She then helped her husband run a small business making paintbrushes in their home in Rockford.

Ralphine enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and participating in the activities of their motorhome club. She loved Christmas and decorating. Ralphine enjoyed baking Christmas cookies of every kind and was an expert in Scandinavian types like rosettes and krumkaka.

She was an excellent seamstress and a lady of great style and fashion. Ralphine set a high standard for her children and grandchildren to not only do their best in everything they did, but to always look their best, too.

A supportive and devoted mom, grand mom, and great grand mom, Ralphine loved her family most of all.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and brother Howard Rasmussen.

Ralphine is survived by her three daughters, Terry Kelzer of Amery, WI; Sandra Rostie of Brighton, CO; and Phyllis Johnson of Rockford; grandchildren Angela Niemann; George Jr. (Joe) Kelzer; Rick and Kathie (Mingo) Olson; Jon and Beth (Dausman) Olson; Jeff and Angela (Langer) Olson; and Jaclyn and Christopher Jose; and great-grandchildren Alexandra, Blaine, Delaney, Chloe, Hannah, and Kevin.

There was a gathering of family and friends to remember Ralphine Wednesday evening, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Cremation Society of Minnesota in Edina.
