Adela A. Wendolek Obituary – 1/28/2013


Adela A. Wendolek, age 88, of Hutchinson, died Monday, Jan. 28,2013, at Laurel’s Peak in Mankato.

She was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Lester Prairie, the daughter of Henry and Helena Quast Schroeder.

Adela was united in marriage with Albert E. Wendolek Oct. 12, 1946. God blessed their marriage with two sons, Thomas and Jerome; and a daughter, Beverly.

They shared 62 years of marriage, most of which were spent in the house which Albert built on Highway 7 east of Hutchinson.

Adela held employment as a private secretary at 3M in Hutchinson for 29 years. She was active in the development of the Professional Secretaries Association at 3M, and was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 906.

Adela enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and decorative bow making. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.

Adela is survived by her loving children: Thomas J. (Ellen) Wendolek of Waterville, Jerome A. (Bonita “Bonnie”) Wendolek of Hutchinson, and Beverly A. (Tom) Tews of North Mankato; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Emmert Schroeder of New Germany; two sisters, Verona Tenyson of Mesa, AZ, and Bernice Kruschke of Hutchinson; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Wendolek, Aug. 25, 2008; her parents, Henry and Helena Schroeder and by two brothers, and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Tony Stubeda as the celebrant. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be take place Friday, Feb. 8 at 1:35 p.m.

Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.

Casket bearers were Daniel Tews, Peter Wendolek, Jason Junker, Sean McNamara, Scott Stengel, and Matthew VanderVegt.
