Lawrence A. Antil Obituary – 5/2/2014


Lawrence A. Antil, beloved father and grandfather, age 91, of Waverly, died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Annandale, following several years of living with dementia.

He was born March 11, 1923, in Maple Lake, the son of Joseph and Albina Morin Antil.

Lawrence was joined in holy marriage with Irene L. McCalpin Aug. 26, 1943, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Larry honorably served his country during the World War II era, from 1943 until 1946, in the United States Army.

He was formerly employed as a rural mail carrier for 37 years, retiring in 1986.

Larry enjoyed cutting wood, fishing, the outdoors, yard work, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.

He was also a 66-year member of American Legion Post 305 in Waverly, and had served as a past commander.

Larry was a former Waverly city councilman.

He is survived by his loving children: Kenny (Patty) Antil, Bonnie (Mel) Belland, all of Waverly, Patty (Dennis) Roufs of Maple Grove, Daniel (Robbin) Antil of Pflugerville, TX, and Lori (Jim) Rozeske of Waverly; 12 grandchildren: Kevin Antil, Chris Kittock, Kelly Marquette, Jill Belland, Michael Belland, Jennifer Wisnefske, Jason Roufs, Kimberly Jackson, Adam Rozeske, Jackson Rozeske, Norah Antil, and Jordan Antil; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren.

Larry is further survived by two sisters: Bea Gagnon of Waverly, and Tess (Harold) Guggemos of Winsted; a brother-in-law, Ed Perra of Buffalo; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Motzko of Watertown; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene L. Antil; his parents; five brothers: Victor, Arthur, James, Frank and Gerald “Jerry” Antil; and by a sister, Sue Perra.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly, with Father Kenneth O’Hotto as the celebrant. Interment with military rites followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

There was visitation Friday, May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m., at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Honorary casket bearers were Jennifer Wisnefske, Jill Belland, Kelly Marquette, Kimberly Jackson, Chris Kittock, Norah Antil, and Jordan Antil.

Casket bearers were Kevin Antil, Michael Belland, Jackson Rozeske, Jason Roufs, Adam Rozeske, and Tom Ogle.
