Norma Jean Authier Obituary – 3/2/2014


Norma Jean Authier, age 85, of Buffalo, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born March 10, 1928, in Buffalo Center, IA, the daughter of Walter J. and Laura C. (Johnson) Pierce.

Norma graduated from high school in Thompson, IA.

She was joined in marriage with Lyle D. Authier Aug. 8, 1949, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Norma enjoyed playing bingo and Farkle, listening to music, and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Minnesota Twins. She also attended adult daycare in Buffalo for 15 years.

Norma is survived by four children and their spouses: Kathy and David Noll of Alexandria, Diane and Kevin Mulligan of Delano, Kirk and Brenda Authier of Vinton, IA, and Lyle Jr. and Jamie Authier of Highlands Ranch, CO; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister: Brice (Shirley) Pierce of Thompson, IA, Lonell (Mary Kay) Pierce of Ashville, NC, and Ruth Ann Tibbits of Forest City, IA; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001; and by her parents.

Funeral services took place Friday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Thompson, IA, with the Rev. Deb Devine officiating. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson, IA.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Honorary casket bearers were Justin Noll, Matthew Noll, Adam Noll, Steven Noll, Keely Sikora, Chelsey Mulligan, Andrew Authier, Allison Authier, Luke Authier, Bruce Authier, Travis Authier, Shelby Authier, Mallory Authier, and six great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Kirk Authier, Lyle Authier, David Noll, Kevin Mulligan, Christopher Noll, and Philip Authier.
