Matthew Leo Behrends, age 49, of Buffalo, formerly of Delano, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.
He was born Feb. 4, 1965, in Minneapolis, to Lynn and Leona Behrends.
Matt was a longtime employee of Bosch Packaging.
His life was never quiet or dull; Matt was one of a kind. He was a man of many talents, and excellent mechanical skills, who was able to accomplish anything; a good carpenter, and an expert equipment operator.
Matt looked forward to his annual ice fishing trips to Lake of the Woods. He was an avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast, and he could grill the best steak you have ever eaten.
In addition, Matt was a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Leona; and brothers Peter and Thomas.
Matt is survived by his daughter, Rachel; granddaughter Evelyn; Sandra; siblings Scott (Annette), Roberta “Bobi” (James) Meehan, and Mark (Karen); nieces and nephew Anna, Kathryn, Mary, and Nicholas; step-father James Burns; and very close friend Fred Thorston.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., following a rosary service at 9:30 a.m., also at the church.
Arrangements were handled by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
