Melva E. Bergs, age 95, of Waconia, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Westwood Place in Watertown.
She was born Feb. 10, 1919, in Watertown Township, the daughter of Henry and Paulina (Stahlke) Kuntz. Melva was baptized Feb. 25, 1919, and confirmed April 9, 1933, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.
Melva was united in marriage to Clifford Bergs Sept. 27, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.
A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, Melva belonged to the Seniors for Christ and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
She loved playing cards, and enjoyed people and making new friends. When she lived at the Evergreen Apartments, she loved being part of the coffee group. She moved to Westwood Place in Watertown from there.
Melva was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Bergs; and her parents, Henry and Paulina Kuntz.
She is survived by her loving family: cousins; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Tuesday March 25 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Robert Alsleben officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, March 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Casket bearers were Floyd Kuntz, Alfred Kuntz, Lyle Kuntz, Steve Kusske, Lee Stahlke, and Cliff Stahlke.
