Eugene C. Bloom, age 84, of Watertown, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born May 5, 1930, to William and Madeline (Hydock) Bloom in Niagara Falls, NY.
Eugene served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952, and was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant.
He was united in marriage to Carol Marie Piche in 1950 in Niagara Falls, NY.
Eugene served as a law enforce officer, and retired with over 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Eugene Earley American Legion Post 121 of Watertown.
He volunteered as a youth baseball coach, liked to hunt and fish, enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid reader of the Bible.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madeline Bloom; his son, David; and siblings William Bloom and Norma (Al) Minicucci.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol; son James (Dawn) Bloom; grandchildren Dottie, Jimmy and Jason; great-grandchildren Taylor, Ella, Jimmy III, Brooke, Jack, Jeremy and one on the way; sister Joan Forese; sister-in-law Florence Bloom; dogs Caleb and Shady; as well as many other family members and friends.
Interment services took place Monday, May 12 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, with military honors provided by the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad.
Arrangements were handled by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
