Eileen Rose Braun, age 82, of Norwood Young America, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America with Father Gregory Abbott as celebrant of the Mass. There will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will be at Mau Memorial Cemetery.
Eileen’s grandchildren were her casket bearers; Lucas Braun, Ryan Braun, and Carissa Braun.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Eileen was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Minnetrista, he daughter of Elmer and Hedwig (Weinzierl) Thurk. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.
While growing up, she attended Catholic grade school in St. Bonifacius.
Eileen was united in marriage to Leon H. Braun June 27, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia.
Eileen was a kind, gentle, and social person, always striking up a conversation with anyone. She was a member of the CCW at Ascension Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary with the fire department for 19 years. Eileen also served as a volunteer at the Stiftungsfest for a number of years.
One of her greatest joys was going to Young America Cardinals baseball games, Eileen being one of their biggest fans. She also enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, and playing bingo in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hedwig Thurk; sister Luverne Willems; and brother-in-law Marvin “Buddy” Schultz.
Eileen is survived by her loving family: husband Leon “Buff” Braun; son and daughter-in-law Rick and Connie Braun of Norwood Young America; grandchildren Lucas Braun, Ryan and Becca Braun, Carissa Braun; and great-grandchildren MaKenzie and Benjamin Braun.
She is further survived by sisters Jeanne Schultz of Waconia, and Connie Thurk of Victoria; brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth and Sue Thurk of Winsted, Richard and Pauline Thurk of Waconia, and Michael and Linda Thurk of Emily; brother-in-law Ray “Butch” Willems of Waconia; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
