Doris Mae (O’Keefe) Dallmann, age 85, of Cokato, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care of Dassel.
She was born May 18, 1929, the daughter of Maurice and Evelyn (Colon) O’Keefe.
Doris grew up on the family farm in Collinwood Township. She attended country school, before attending Dassel High School, where she graduated in 1947.
She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
As a dedicated member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin, Doris had served on the church board for several years, was a member of the Catholic Christian Women of St. John’s, and helped at the church and the education center in any capacity.
Doris was united in marriage to George Dallmann May 26, 1956, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. To this union, two daughters were born, Patricia and Lisa.
The family made their home in Stockholm Township, where they farmed for numerous years.
Doris had been employed at 3-M in Hutchinson for several years, stayed at home taking care of her family, worked for Top Farm Seed sorting corn, volunteered for Lutheran Brotherhood, did demonstrations for grocery stores around the central Minnesota area, and was the volunteer coordinator for the Cokato Manor.
Doris loved to keep busy; she was a social person who loved to spend time with family and friends over a cup of coffee, or chatting with her dear friends at her sewing club. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, baking, cooking, and loved to entertain for holidays and special events.
Doris always had a smile and would help anyone in need. She was a member of Tops, and had served as the treasurer.
Doris was a born caretaker, from taking care of her family, to feeding the birds; she gave of her heart to everyone who had the privilege to know her.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Dallmann of Mankato, and Lisa Anderson of Glenburn, ND; one granddaughter, Crystal Anderson of Glenburn, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; siblings Thomas O’Keefe, Sidney O’Keefe, and Marcella Staloch; and her nephews, Shawn O’Keefe, and Dennis O’Keefe.
A Mass of Christin Burial took place Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin with Father Brian Mandel officiating. Interment followed at Dassel Community Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary followed by parish prayers starting at 4 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. There was also a one-hour visitation Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
