Barbara F. Delin, 75

Barbara Ferne Zebell Delin, age 75, of Waconia, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

She was born April 8, 1939, in Billings, MT, the daughter of William Kenneth and Jamesina (Worthingham) Good.

After graduating high school, she continued her education in Minnesota, where she earned her Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) degree. She went back to Billings, MT to practice anesthesia, and then returned to Waconia in 1972, where she worked for many years at Ridgeview Medical Center.

Barbara married Leonard G. Zebell Nov. 15, 1974. She left the hospital and became the nursing director at Nightingale Nursing home in Waconia. After a few years, she was sought after by a firm to go into failing nursing homes to bring up their state ratings. This took her and Leonard to Oklahoma and many cities in Montana.

After Leonard’s death in 2000, Barb moved back to Minnesota, where she returned to work at Ridgeview Medical Center. There, she became the nurse manager in the Nightingale Center, a geriatric behavioral unit within the hospital. When that unit closed, she went to work at the Lighthouse of Waconia as its administrator, continuing to work until 2009. All of the staff, patients, residents and families that she worked with over the years will remember her kindness, devotion and professionalism. She touched many lives along the way.

After retirement Barb met and married Norman L. Delin, Sept. 25, 2010. Norm and Barb enjoyed their four years together traveling to such places as Washington DC, Branson, MO, Wisconsin, and northern Minnesota. They enjoyed walking, swimming, biking, going to plays and concerts, and dancing on New Year’s; just spending time together made them happy.

She enjoyed crafts, reading, cooking and especially learning new technology from the first game boy to the iPhone. Her time with friends and family brought Barb the most joy.

In addition to her first husband, Leonard, Barb was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jamesina Good; and brother, William K. (Sally) Good Jr.

Barb is survived by her loving family: husband Norman Delin; daughter Laurie Zebell (fiancé Randy Walter) of Carver; son Gary (Vicki) Zebell of Cologne; step-children Heather (Paul) Haas of Roseville, and Jennie (Jay) Tainter of Burnsville; grandchildren Andrew Kuelbs (fiancée Stacy) of Grand Forks, Heather Kuelbs (fiancé Craig) of Woodbury, Martin Kuelbs of Carver, Jackie (Aidan) Demarais of Janesville, Nicholas Walter (fiancée Amberly) of Shakopee, Joshua Zebell of Norwood Young America, Jill (Dan) Weinand of Norwood Young America, and Jamie Zebell of Bloomington; step grandchildren Elizabeth, James, Jacob, Meredith and Gwendolyn Haas of Roseville, and Owen and Olivia Tainter of Burnsville; and great-grandchildren Marin, Joshua, Arihanna, Alyssa, Justin, Jacob and Jesse.

She is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Clarence and Violet Zebell, Maynard and Delores Zebell, all of Glencoe, Elaine Latzig of Winsted, Vernon and Marlene Zebell of Waconia, Stephen Delin of Tacoma Park, MD, and Gregory and Ayla Delin of Istanbul, Turkey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service took place Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at Waterbrooke Fellowship Church in Victoria with the Rev. Bill Bonner officiating. There was a gathering of family and friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
