Margaret Mary DeMarais, age 97, of rural Waverly, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Home of Howard Lake.
She was born May 25, 1916, in Maple Lake, to Eli and Georgiana (Hance-Fobbe) DeMarais.
Margaret was united in marriage to John DeMarais June 5, 1934, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. They were married for 43 years prior to John’s passing in 1977.
At the time of their marriage, Margaret and John moved to their farm in Marysville Township, where Margaret lived for 74 years.

Margaret loved to dance, and had a natural talent for playing the piano and accordion. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, canning, playing cards, casino trips, and fishing. But spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends was her all-time favorite thing to do.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, and a member of the Council of Catholic Women.
In addition to her husband, John, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Eli and Georgiana DeMarais; a daughter, Mildred (husbands Ralph Wurm and Patrick Hannon); son-in-law Jerry Driver; grandsons John Clem DeMarais and Joseph Wurm; a granddaughter, Shelly (DeMarais) Lynch; a sister, Loretta (Raymond) Wolfsteller; a brother, Ray (Elaine) DeMarais; and half sisters and brothers, Bernice (Donald) Stumpf, Vince (Viola) DeMarais, Evelyn (Jack) Borrell, and Francis Fobbe.
