Eldon Arthur Glessing, age 91, of Howard Lake, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Care Center in Howard Lake.
He was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Howard Lake, to the late Jacob and Ethel Glessing.
Eldon graduated from Howard Lake High School.
He joined the US Army during World War II.
Eldon attended Dunwoody College after the military.
He worked as a construction worker, as well as working on his hobby farm part time, until he retired. He then started farming full time.
Eldon enjoyed working outdoors and in his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ethel; first wife Doral and daughter Barbara; sister Ruth Kramer; and brothers Lloyd, Dale, Gerald and Jack.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Joyce (Thomsen) Glessing; step-children Kim, Gene, David, and Kristie Thomsen; three grandchildren; a brother, Mark and his wife Delores; sister-in-law Fern Glessing; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
Private services have taken place, with interment at Dawn Valley Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made out to the Red Cross or Salvation Army.
