Larry Cedric Hafften, age 67, of Independence, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at his home, with his family by his side.
The family will host a “Celebration of Life” gathering for Larry at Jacque B’s in Montrose, Saturday, Jan. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Larry was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Buffalo, to Lloyd and Bertha (Goebel) Hafften.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Buelow Aug. 24, 1974, at St. George Church in Long Lake.
Larry took over the family dairy farm in 1974, and kept his hand in farming until his health declined. He had an obsession with Allis Chalmers tractors and enjoyed working on them. He also had quite the toy collection; they were his prized possessions.
Larry also enjoyed gardening, but most of all, spending time with family at the farm. This was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon; sons Eric (Tasha) Hafften, and Shane Hafften, all of Watertown; daughters Michelle (Vince) Corbin of Lester Prairie, and Joellyn (Forhad) Hossain of Buffalo; six grandchildren, Searra, Shianne, Kendra, Zachary, Kylie and Griffin; a brother, Lauren (Kathleen) Hafften of Rockford; and sisters, Lola Pool of Independence, and Ione Link of Delano.
