Gladys Louise (Johnson) Hanson, age 85, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Cokato Manor.
The funeral service will take place Monday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at North Crow River Lutheran Church (Knapp), rural Cokato. Interment will be at a later date.
Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at North Crow River Lutheran Church, with a prayer service from 6-6:30 p.m.; and will continue at 10 a.m. Monday, prior to the funeral service.
Gladys was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Little Falls, to John and Amy (Lilga) Johnson. She grew up in Randall, MN, and the family moved to French Lake Township in April of 1940.
Gladys graduated from Annandale High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to LeRoy Hanson Oct. 11, 1947. They were blessed with five children.
Gladys was an avid gardener and exceptional quilter and seamstress.
She was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA).
Gladys worked for over 35 years at National Connector (CTS Fabri-Tek/Ablecon) in Cokato, until her retirement. She then became a “lunch lady” at Dassel Elementary School in Dassel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leroy in 2012; grandson Paul Cates; brother-in-law Darrell Wolff; brother Alfred Johnson and sister-in-law Lois Johnson; sister-in-law Rosilyn Isaacson; brother-in-law Floyd Isaacson, brother-in-law Herbert Hanson; and brother-in-law Russell Opsahl.
Gladys is survived by her five children and their spouses: Keith (Joanie) of South Haven, Maxine (Kim) Cates of Dassel, Barry (Laura) of Annandale, Peggy (Tom) Steinman of Willmar, and Nancy (Roger) Mann of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren: Jeremy (Krista) Cates, Angela (Chris) Krueger, Melissa (Jess) Granlund, Jennifer (Jess) Ulrick, Derrick (Nadine) Thiele, Joe (Kari) Thiele, Scott Hanson, and Ryan (Alissa) Thiele; five step grandchildren: Mark Hilsgen, Darcy (Lewis) Anderson, Troy (Jana) Hilsgen, David Steinman and Sarah Steinman; 13 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her sisters, LeVina (Johnson) Opsahl and Ruby (Johnson) Wolff; and sister-in-law Ellen (Ranta) Hanson.
