Perry Lee Hardel, age 57, of Moorhead, formerly of Cokato, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, after a brief, yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Aug. 17, 1956, in St. Peter, to Harold and Orma (Willmsen) Hardel. The family moved several times before settling in Cokato, where Perry graduated from high school in 1974.
After high school, Perry began his career in building services and construction with his father’s construction company. In the early 1980s, he moved to the Twin Cities and continued his construction career, mainly working on his own as a general contractor or project superintendent. He was extremely gifted at thinking outside the box and coming up with creative ideas for building and construction projects.
Perry met his best friend, Cindy Siebels in 1997. They loved to travel together, visiting numerous places throughout the US.
Perry moved to Moorhead in 2007. His work during this time took him all over the country, and Cindy was fortunate enough to have been able to go with him on many occasions.
Perry enjoyed sports, fishing, horse races, playing cards, softball, and was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. He loved staying busy, and was always working on some small project around the house.
He is survived by his forever fiancée, Cindy, of Moorhead; children Jay (Lauren) Siebels and Ann Siebels, both of Moorhead; Burt (Jan) Hardel, of Lakeville; Hal (Kyle) Hardel of Andover; and several nieces and nephews.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith Hardel.
A memorial service took place Monday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, ND, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.
Memorials are preferred to the Perry Hardel Benefit Fund at Gate City Bank, 305 8th St. S., Moorhead, MN 56560.
