Dorothy Hensel, age 85, of New Germany, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at Westwood Place in Watertown.
Dorothy was born March 15, 1929, in Watertown, the daughter of George and Erna (Becker) Dalbec. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Loren Hensel May 26, 1948, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano by the Rev. E. H. Bruns.
A very social person, Dorothy was always wanting to be on the go, visiting with people. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with her grandchildren and also attending their sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; a son, Dean Hensel; an infant daughter; parents George and Erna Dalbec; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Laura Hensel; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Melvin and Rubina Hensel, and Hallie Hensel.
Dorothy is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Marlene Hensel of Hackensack, and Mike and Patty Hensel of New Germany; grandchildren Michelle and Kevin Thompson, Jennifer (Scott) Millerbernd, Angela (Bob) Kranz, Abby Hensel, Brittany Hensel, Dakota Hensel, and Morgan Hensel; great-grandchildren Adam, Nicholas, Alexander, Ashley, Alison, Avery, and Brooke; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Saturday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Koty Hensel, Adam Parker, Nicholas Parker, Alex Parker, Bob Kranz, Scott Millerbernd, and Kevin Thompson.
