Manfred O. Johnson, age 93, of Cokato, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, June 16, 2014.
He was born June 7, 1921, on the family farm near Cokato, to John and Agnes Johnson.
Manfred graduated from Cokato High School in 1939.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Marie Shuneson April 7, 1945. This marriage was blessed with two children, Sandy (Jerry) Hermstad, and Dan (Virginia) Johnson.
Manfred spent his entire life farming in the Cokato area. He was part of a hard working farm family with a love for the land and a wonderful work ethic, which he carried with him his entire life.
Manfred was an active member of the Albion Evangelical Free Church for over 70 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Augusta; and brothers, George and Arne.
Manfred is survived by his children, Sandy (Jerry) Hermstad, and Dan (Virginia) Johnson; grandchildren Bruce (Kim) Johnson, Jennie (Trevor) Hamre, David (Gretchen) Johnson, Joy (Dan) Beasley, Darren Johnson, Laura (Tim) Overmoen and Lisa (Tyler) Van Engen; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister-in-law, June Shuneson.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Manfred devoted his life to his family and to his faith.
A celebration of his life took place Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at Albion Evangelical Free Church in rural Cokato.
Visitation was Friday, June 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato. and continued Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
