LaVerne C. (Gallus) Johnson, age 89, of Delano, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the St. Mary Care Center in Winsted.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. There will be a gathering of family and friends in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the Mass. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

LaVerne was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Franklin Township, to Joseph and Blanche (Fautsch) Gallus.
She was employed as the head cook at the Delano Health Care Center for over 27 years, retiring in 1993.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband Robert, “Bob;” her parents, Joseph and Blanche Gallus; sisters Eleanore Adickes and Marge Jerde; an infant brother, Donald; sister-in-law Shirley Gallus; and brothers-in-law Dayton Adickes and Floyd Jerde.
She is survived by her children: Darrell (Mary) Johnson, Karen (Jim) Russek, Dale (Sue) Johnson, Don (Colleen) Johnson, and Dick (Roxanne) Johnson; 14 grandchildren: Sarah (Eric) Anderson, Bob Johnson, Michael (Laura) Johnson, Patrick (Jenna) Johnson, Eric (Stephanie) Russek, Melissa Stoddard, Travis Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Melanie (Kevin) Brisk, Kyle (Janine) Johnson, Derek (Kelsy) Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Haley Johnson, and Matt Johnson; and 16 great-grandchildren: Ben Johnson, Will Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Autumn Johnson, Wyatt Russek, Walker Russek, Weston Russek, Wynn Russek, Presley Stoddard, Shelby Stoddard, Tori Stoddard, Kai Brisk, Cole Brisk, Dolen Brisk, Ayla Johnson, and Rylan Johnson.
LaVerne is further survived by a sister, Betty (Marvin) Rogers; a brother, Ralph Gallus; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
