Dwayne Jorgenson, age 80, of Watertown, formerly of Stevens Point, WI, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014.
Dwayne and his wife, Barbara recently moved to Watertown from Stevens Point, WI.
Dwayne was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Erskine, MN, to Earle and Genevieve Jorgenson. He attended school in Bemidji, and graduated high school in Grand Forks, ND.
Dwayne attended Dickinson State College in Dickinson, ND for two years, before joining the military. He served in Fairbanks, AK, where he met and married Barbara Lyons in 1956.
Dwayne continued college after the service, and received his PhD from the University of Minnesota. He taught music for 37 years, from first grade through graduate school.
He had also held the position of choral conductor at Northeastern College in Illinois; Moorhead State University; University of Minnesota, and University of St. Thomas. Dwayne was devoted to his students and loved his work.
Dwayne built a log home on Antler Lake in Milltown, WI in 1971, which the family enjoyed for 13 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He and his wife also owned a hardware store in River Falls, WI for four years.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; and son Eric.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter Andrea and son-in-law Jacob; grandsons Owen and Ivor of Watertown; sister Erlene Hagburg of Borger, TX; nieces and nephews in Texas and New Jersey; and niece Debra in Val Rico, FL.
Dwayne’s ashes will be scattered over his favorite woods.
