Dianne A. Kavanagh, age 71 of Maple Plain, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A kind and gentle soul, she took this ailment with a smile up until the end. “What is, is.”
Dianne was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Willmar, to Roy and Arlene (McCleary) Simenson.
She grew up on a farm, the youngest of six children.
Dianne loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She always had a witty comment, and was supportive of friends, stating “Thank you for being my friend.”
Dianne led her family on a very sacred journey as they shared time with her during her illness, and she had the gift of bringing her entire family closer together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Wanda Naas; a brother, Larry Simenson; brother-in-law George Welsh; and niece Jojean Wolfgram.
Dianne is survived by her daughters, Shawntel (Kavanagh) Danielson, and Stacie Kavanagh; grandchildren Weslee Kavanagh, and Dalton and Shaley Danielson; her sister, Donna Welsh; brothers Lyle (Sandy) Simenson and Dellis (Bonnie) Simenson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Interment was at the Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church, Delano, and continued Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Arrangements were handled by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
