Wallace E. Kern, age 76, of rural Waverly, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 6, 1938, in Lester Prairie, the son of Edward and Lenora (Werth) Kern.
Wallace honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962.
Wallace was joined in holy marriage with Darlene Wanner Jan. 21, 1962, in Bismarck, ND. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Wallace was formerly employed by Control Data, Sterner Lighting, and Mid-America Creamery as an electrical technician, and in maintenance for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying, model airplanes, and reading.
Wallace was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
He is survived by three sons: Ronald Kern of Buffalo, Randall Kern, and Gregory Kern, both of Dassel; brothers Waldemar (Gretta) Kern of Waverly, and Warren Kern of Howard Lake; sisters Beatrice (Donald) Zellmann of Arlington, and Barbara Smith of Howard Lake; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Kern, Nov. 19, 2008, and by his parents, Edward and Lenora Kern.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nirva officiating. Interment followed at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Casket bearers were Charlie Kern, David Kern, Sherwin Schwartzrock, Wyatt Kern, Nathan Zellmann and Jeff Smith.
