Ben Kjarum, age 75, of Maple Plain, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Ridgeview Medical Center with his family at his side after a year-long battle with cancer.
Ben was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Moose Lake, to Beatrice and Carl Kjarum; and was a baptized and confirmed member of the Lutheran faith.
He was united in marriage to Judith Dahlmeier Feb. 13, 1965.
A licensed land surveyor for over 40 years, Ben enjoyed working outdoors, both personally and professionally, and pursuing his interest in Farmall tractors.
He dedicated his life to taking care of what he said gave him purpose his wife, family, home, and neighborhood.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Judy; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy (Chris) Kelley of Maple Lake, and Kristin (Dan) Schmidt of Belle Plaine.
As a helpful and dependable rock of responsibility, he will be sadly missed by his friends and family.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lyndale Lutheran Church in Independence, with a gathering of family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
