Kathy Klitzke, 64

Kathleen “Kathy” Elizabeth Klitzke, age 64, of Lester Prairie, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

She was born March 18, 1950, in Redwood Falls, the daughter of Cliff and Kate (Clouse) Moldestad. Kathleen was baptized as an infant at St. Catherine’s Church in Redwood Falls.

She attended school in Delhi, MN, and moved to Hutchinson when she was 8 years old. She then attended St. Anastasia Catholic School in Hutchinson until seventh grade. She has many fond memories of those years and made life-long friendships.

Kathy graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. She then attended the Minnesota School of Business. After graduation, she was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis.

Kathy was united in marriage to David Klitzke Oct. 23, 1970, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three sons; Matthew, Nathan, and Kristopher (Fir).

Kathy and Dave resided in Brooklyn Park until 1976, and then moved to Lester Prairie. They shared over 43 years of marriage.

Kathy worked at the Federal Reserve Bank until November 1975. As soon as Kathy became pregnant, her days as a “working professional” were numbered. The only job she was ever truly passionate about was the position of “mother.” Her children and grandchildren (AKA “Little Honeys”) were her everything.

Kathy returned to work once her baby, Kristopher, entered first grade. She then took on the position as paraprofessional at Lester Prairie Schools until her retirement in 2008. Of course, that role allowed her to work with kids and would also allow her to keep a close eye on her three boys who were in school in the same building.

Kathy also taught CCD at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted for 12 years, and helped with Cub Scouts for 10 years. She was involved in the early years of Lester Prairie Youth Baseball. Even though she wasn’t a big sports fan, she was her boys’ number-one cheerleader.

In later years, her six grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Kathy truly cherished her family and friends. She left an impression on everyone she crossed paths with.

She is survived by her husband, David, of Lester Prairie; son Matthew and wife Amy of Lester Prairie, and their children, Sophie, Kaya, and Bennett; son Nathan and wife Sarah of Waconia, and their children, Emmitt and Henry; and son Kristopher and wife Amy of Chaska, and their daughter, Kilah.

Kathy is further survived by her mother, Catherine “Kate” Moldestad of Hutchinson; sisters and brothers-in-law Carol (Doug) Dobratz of Hutchinson, Linda (Robert) Wraspir of Maple Grove, and Jolene Reck of Inver Grove Heights; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Moldestad; in-laws Dorothy and Wendell Klitzke; and nephew Mitchell Larson.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with interment in the St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson. Father Paul Schumacher officiated the Mass, and the organist was Carrie Knott. Lucy Newcomb and Brian Brosz were vocalists; and Sue and Jerry Rolf were urn bearers.

Honorary bearers were “Beepers,” Sue Heimerl, Kathy Fiecke, Sue Rolf, Carol Klaustermeier, Jannina Wall, and Julie Nowak,

Arrangements were by the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson. Online obituaries and guest book are available at www.hantge.com; click on Obituaries/Guest Book.
