Dwayne ‘DJ’ Krienke, 68

Dwayne Julius “DJ” Krienke, age 68, of Mayer, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Waconia, the son of Howard E. and Eleanora L. (Bollmann) Krienke. Dwayne was baptized Nov. 3, 1946; and confirmed April 10, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. Stehr.

Dwayne loved his country. Joining the US Navy after high school, he was stationed on the USS Forrestal and was aboard the ship when it caught fire July 29, 1967. The later part of his life, Dwayne faithfully served his local VFW.

He was united in marriage to Krystyna M. Jasinski June 13, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. Stehr. This union was blessed with three daughters: Darla, Debie, and Drucilla.

Dwayne retired April, 2006, after 35 years at Wacholz Masonry.

He served 20 years on the Mayer Fire Department.

DJ had passion for many things, including many years of bowling leagues and tournaments, shooting darts for his church team, and a devoted NASCAR fan. He was a fiercely competitive card player, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

DJ loved his family above all things. His girls were his world, and his beautiful grandkids were his latest pride and joy. He enjoyed brotherly bonding and spending time with friends and extended family.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eleanora Krienke; and a niece, Nikki Krienke.

DJ is survived by his loving family: wife Krys Krienke; daughters Darla (Todd) Hoyles of Hamilton, ND, Debie (Alan) Payette of Scotia, NY, and Drucilla Krienke (Jeff DeLong) of Baldwin, WI; grandchildren Alyssa, Violet and Erich Hoyles, and Isabell and Eathan DeLong; brothers, the Rev. Howie (Linda) Krienke of Minnetonka, Arthur (Sandi) Krienke of Grand Prairie, TX, and Steve (Judy) Curfman of Dassel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lois and Ed Cota, Nikola and Charlie Richardson of Marquette, MI, Lee Jasinski of Grimes, IA, Ed and Ann Jasinski of Chandler, AZ, Mike and Joni Jasinski of Chicago, IL, Mary Fran and James Fields of St. Louis, MO, Raymond and Beth Jasinski of Seattle, WA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Rev. Adam Gless officiating. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

There was visitation Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Casket bearers were Josh Krienke, Jeremy Krienke, A.J. Bollmann, Bob Curfman, Andy Curfman, and Russ Corson.
