Wallace R. Kroells, 78

Wallace Ronald Kroells, 78, of rural Green Isle, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

He was born Oct. 25, 1936, on the family farm in Washington Lake Township of Sibley County, the son of Peter H. and Lena (Nellen) Kroells.

Wallace was baptized Nov. 29, 1936, at St. Paul’s Ev. Reformed Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Otto Vriesen; and later confirmed in his faith, April 2, 1950, at the same church with Rev. Vriesen officiating.

He attended District 25, and graduated from Central High School in 1954.

Wallace was united in marriage with Marlene Von Berge June 27, 1959, at Frieden’s County Line Church in rural Norwood Young America. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Susie. Wallace and Marlene shared more than 55 years of marriage.

Wallace spent his entire life farming his Washington Lake Township farm, prior to becoming a resident at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center. He took great pride in his farm, especially his John Deere tractors. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially time spent with his grandsons, Drew and Adam.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Peter H. and Lena Kroells; brother, Milton Kroells; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Martin Oelfke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herb and Malinda Von Berge; brother-in-law, Raymond Ische; and sisters-in-law, Betty Kroells and Marlys Von Berge.

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Marlene Kroells of Green Isle; daughter Susie (Todd) Hedtke of Green Isle; grandsons Drew and Adam Hedtke; brother Harlan Kroells of Green Isle; sister Delores Ische of Norwood Young America; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lyla Kroells, Harold and Muriel Von Berge, all of Norwood Young America, LeRoy and Joyce Von Berge of Plato, and Vernon Von Berge of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The funeral service took place Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m., at the Frieden’s County Line Church in rural Norwood Young America, with the Rev. Joseph Clay and Chaplain Helmar Heckel as officiants.

Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the Ferguson Cemetery of rural Norwood Young America.

Serving as casketbearers were Randy Kroells, Terry Kroells, Darcy Kroells, Randy Herrmann, Craig Goetze, and Steve Vogel.

Honorary casketbearers were Drew and Adam Hedtke.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
