Roselia G. “Sally” Lang, age 90, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at The Lakeview Ranch in Dassel.
She was born April 26, 1923, about 15 miles west of Streeter, ND, the daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth (nee Meier) Gums. Roselia was confirmed in the Friedenstahl Lutheran Church in the country.
Roselia and Leo C. Lang were joined in holy marriage Dec. 20, 1946. This marriage was blessed with three children: Sharon, Leonard, and Garnette, and they shared 60 years of marriage.
Roselia and Leo first lived in Jamestown, ND for two years, then moved to Huron, SD until August of 1966, when they moved to Hutchinson.
Roselia was a hard worker.She loved the Lord and showed her love by hard work. In addition to raising three children, she worked out of the home in order to give her children a Christian education.
After her children were on their own, Roselia worked at Dorcus, now “Twice is Nice.” She made many quilts for Dorcus, to be given away to needy families. She also made quilts for her children, nieces, and nephews.
Roselia was baptized by emersion in 1955, and joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This was a hard step for her because she was close to her family and they were all Lutheran.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, puzzles, music, and art. Roselia was featured in the Hutchinson Leader newspaper in 1984, by Mildred Kovar, for all her crafts.
Roselia is survived by her three children: Sharon Lang of Hutchinson, Leonard Lang of Newcastle, WY, and Garnette (Dan) Nelson of Monticello; two grandsons: John (Crystal) Marvan of Silver Lake, and Michael (Kelly) Marvan of Hutchinson; two great-grandchildren: Cameron and Clayton Marvan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in 2007; her parents; a brother, Edward Gums; and sisters Louise Lang and Lilly Wanner.
Funeral services took place Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hutchinson. Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation was Thursday evening, March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, and continued Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Casket bearers were John Marvan, Michael Marvan, Dan Nelson, Leonard Lang, Roger Hahn, and Rick Heidecker.
Arrangements were by the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
