Harold Lindstrand, 67

Harold Daniel Lindstrand, age 67, of Dassel, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1947, in New Ulm, the son of Emil and Ellen (Ernst) Lindstrand. Harold was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop.

Harold attended school in Winthrop.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Barrick Dec. 20, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. This marriage was blessed with four children, Troy, Jason, Craig and Nicole.

Harold and Phyllis resided in Chaska and Cologne, until they moved to Dassel in 2012. They shared 44 years of marriage.

Harold worked on the farm for Darrel Johnson Tiling of Winthrop, Lee Jacobson of Gaylord, and George Jasken of Arlington. He then worked for Midwest Concrete of Annandale for 20 years; this job took him all over the Twin Cities area.

From 2008 to 2012, Harold was employed by St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. He retired in 2012.

Harold was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie for 25 years. He loved gardening, hunting, and fishing, and was a great story teller.

Harold cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren; family was most important to him. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lindstrand of Dassel; sons Troy Lindstrand of Lafayette, Jason Lindstrand and his wife, Violetta of Shakopee, and Craig Lindstrand of Dassel; daughter Nicole Hargreaves of Chaska; and grandchildren, Wesley, April, Ashlee and Christopher Lindstrand, Hailey Eaton, and Teagan, Devon and Lucas Hargreaves.

Harold is further survived by sisters Darla Peterson and her husband, Harvey of Litchfield, and Margie Duenow and her husband, Ralph of Glencoe; mother-in-law Agnes Barrick of Gaylord; sisters-in-law Debra Barrick of Dallas, TX, Diana Martinek and her husband, Ed of Shakopee, Dale Graupman and her husband, Gary of Glencoe, and Arlys Lindstrand of Winthrop; brother-in-law Philip Barrick of LeSueur; nieces, nephews, many other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Emil and Ellen Lindstrand; brother, Lloyd Lindstrand; and father-in-law, Louis Barrick.

Funeral services took place Monday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, with interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. The Rev. Peter Johnson officiated at the services, and Paul Stever was the organist. Congregational hymns included “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “Amazing Grace.” Special music was “Drink A Beer” by Luke Bryan. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Casket bearers were Ryan Fern, Wesley Lindstrand, Chad Luebker, Donald Moyer, Jr., Dennis Welle, and Jason Hargreaves.

There was visitation Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, and continued Monday one hour prior to the services at the church in Eden Prairie.
