Janet B. Maass, age 94, of Waconia, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Laketown Township, Carver County, the daughter of Frank and Augusta (Fink) Engelhart. Janet was baptized Sept. 18, 1919, and confirmed April 9, 1933, both at Lake Auburn Moravian Church in Victoria.
Janet was united in marriage to Alvin W. Maass Aug. 7, 1941, at Lake Auburn Moravian Church.
Janet worked on the farm, and after her marriage, worked at Sears and Crown Auto.
She was a lifelong member of the Lake Auburn Moravian Church, and served on the Ladies Aid Society.
Janet loved time spent traveling to Texas with Alvin. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin W. Maass; parents Frank and Augusta Engelhart; brothers Woodrow and Frank Engelhart; grandson Brian Maass; and great-grandson Mason Maass.
Janet is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law Jim and Joyce Maass of Blaine, and Bob and Diana Maass of Delano; grandchildren Danielle Maass, Geoffrey and Jodi Maass, Timothy and Julia Maass; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephew; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Friday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at Lake Auburn Moravian Church in Victoria, with interment at the church cemetery.
There was a gathering of family and friends at the church, one hour prior to the service.
