Rose Mary Mallak, 81

Rose Mary Mallak, age 81, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Glencoe Long Term Care.

She was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Tony and Mary Horstmann Fiecke.

Rose and Arthur F. Mallak were joined in holy marriage Oct. 1, 1955. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Rose and Arthur Sr. farmed for 25 years one and one-half miles north of Silver Lake. Rose was a caregiver to her husband while he was ill with ALS.

She also owned and operated Rose’s Café in Silver Lake after Art’s passing, and worked at Jonio’s Restaurant while living in Lester Prairie.

Rose enjoyed playing bingo, word searches, watching “Gun Smoke” and wrestling, baking cookies, and visiting with people.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Rose is survived by a son, Tom (Cindi) Mallak of Lester Prairie; a daughter, Linda (Kent) Leske of Lacey, WA; a daughter-in-law, Ann Mallak of Lester Prairie; a son-in-law, Loren Boll of Litchfield; grandchildren Tamara (Matt) Snegosky, Mike Boll, Brandon Leske, and Allison Leske; great-grandchild Sara Mae Snegosky; brothers and sisters; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Art. Sr., she was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Kathy Boll, son Arthur T. Mallak; a granddaughter, Sara Mallak; and many other siblings and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Inurnment was at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Silver Lake.

Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Friday morning, one hour prior to Mass.

Rose’s grandchildren and great-granddaughter were honorary urnbearers.
