Roger Leonard Mallak, age 73, of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014.
He was born April 14, 1941, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the son of Dominic and Lucy E. (Mallak) Mallak.
Roger honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
Roger L. Mallak and Joyce J. Urban were joined in holy marriage Oct. 20, 1964, in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Roger owned and operated Roger Mallak Excavating for many years. He loved the work he did and took pride in it.
Roger enjoyed visiting with people and friends he met on the way. He also loved working on projects at his shop.
Roger formerly had a milk route and a sewer truck. He also currently did snow removal and opened graves.
He enjoyed going to auctions, and loved his family, especially his grandson, Blake.
Roger is survived by his wife, Joyce J. Mallak; daughters Lynn Mallak (Scott Olsen) of Embarrass, and Shelly (Matt) Hahn of Silver Lake; a grandson, Blake; sisters and a brother, Shirley Fiecke of Winsted, Glenn (Judy) Mallak, and Sandy Heuer, all of Silver Lake; a brother-in-law, Bernie Zejdlik of Hutchinson; sister-in-laws Bea (Don) Ranzau and Joan (Jim) Lawrence, all of Hutchinson; close family friend, Jim Zeik of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rich Mallak; his parents; a sister, Audrey Zejdlik; brothers-in-law Marvin Fiecke, Gary Heuer, and Bob Urban; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Ruby Urban.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, concelebrated by Father Tony Stubeda and Father Paul Schumacher. Readers were Glenn Mallak and Jeff Mallak. Gift bearers were Matt and Blake Hahn. Special music was by Bobbi Ludwig.
There was visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
