Joyce Elaine (Workman) Mithuen, age 67, of Plymouth, and formerly of Howard Lake, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully Friday, July 11, 2014, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, surrounded by family.
Joyce was born May 15, 1947, in Minneapolis, to Donald and Elaine (Zech) Workman.
After being raised in a very large family, she attended the University of Minnesota, and enjoyed a long career as an accountant, most recently working for McKesson in Rogers.
Joyce loved attending large family gatherings, spending time outdoors by the water, and spoiling her grandchildren not only with gifts, but also with her overflowing love, tenderness, and sense of adventure.
She excelled at helping others, without expecting anything in return, and often went above and beyond to assist family and friends. Her sincere compassion, warm encouragement, and gentle guidance as a grandmother, mother, and friend will be sorely missed.
Joyce’s love for the Lord was cemented at an early age, and passed along to her sons. While all who knew her will miss her dearly, heaven got a whole lot brighter with her arrival.
She is survived by her sons, John (Laura) of Eau Claire WI, and Joe (Mary) of St. Michael; grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, and Hannah; step-grandchildren Jinsey, Rumer, Racey, and Cole; seven brothers, James, Richard, Robert, David, Daniel, Patrick and Timothy (Pete); two sisters, Judith and Pamela; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service took place Thursday, July 17 at 1 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, followed by private interment. Memorials may be given to True Friends/Camp Friendship, 10509 108th St NW, Annandale, MN 55302.
