Florence J. “Flossie” Moore, age 73, of Clear Lake, WI, formerly of Dassel, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, following complications from a stroke.
She was born May 23, 1940, in Dassel, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Settergren) Anderson.
Florence grew up in Dassel, and graduated from Dassel High School in 1958. She was the first member of her family to go to college, attending the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis to become a registered nurse.
It was during this time she met Arthur R. Moore, and they were married Sept. 23, 1961, at the Covenant church in Dassel. The couple made their home in Deer Park, WI and raised five children: Jon, Jennifer, Nathan, Timothy, and Kristen.
In 1971, Florence gave up nursing to become a stay-at-home mom, and later began teaching piano lessons in the Clear Lake/Amery/Deer Park area.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed flowers and gardening, enjoyed teaching piano, was active in Gideon ministry. She also enjoyed traveling, and touched many lives with her gift of music.
Florence was a wonderful wife and mother who loved the Lord and was dedicated to her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Anderson; and a brother, Leon Anderson.
Florence is survived by her husband, Arthur Moore, of Clear Lake, WI; sons and daughters Jon Moore of Waipahu, HI, Jennifer Moore of Burbank, CA, Nathan (Elizabeth) Moore of Lakeville, Timothy (Wendy) Moore of Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Kristen Moore of Eagan; grandchildren Josiah and Naomi Moore, and Ethan and Zachary Moore; and a sister, Genevieve (Ken) Nestler of Juneau, AK.
Funeral services took place Friday, April 25 at the United Covenant Church in Clear Lake, WI, with the Rev. Rudy King officiating. Music was provided by Margaret Peterson, Dawn Dix, and Jennifer Moore. Interment was at Swedish Congregational Cemetery in Clear Lake, WI.
Visitation was Thursday, April 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church; and continued Friday, one hour prior to the services.
Casket bearers were Jon Moore, Tim Moore, Jennifer Moore, Kris Moore, Nate Moore, and David Nestler.
