Lorraine R. Oliver, age 88, of Howard Lake, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Mercy Hospital of Coon Rapids.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sylvan Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake and Cokato.
Lorraine was born May 8, 1925, at Benton Harbor, MI, to William and Rose (Randolph) Tollifson. She grew up in Benton Harbor until 1937, when the family moved to Minneapolis, and then to a farm north of Howard Lake in 1940.
Lorraine graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1943.
She married Dale Clinton Oliver Dec. 1, 1943. Lorraine and Dale enjoyed 60 years of marriage, and had one son, Dale Lee Oliver.
They made their home on the farm north of Howard Lake, where they farmed and raised their family. Lorraine still lived there at the time of her death.
Lorraine enjoyed most outdoor activities, and loved farm life except for pigs. She still mowed her own large yard, liked gardening and canning, and was very fond of her dog “Irish.”
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Oliver of Howard Lake; sisters Kay (Bill) Schendel of St. Bonifacius, and Ginger Kranitz of Edina; and sister-in-law Doris Tollifson of New Hope.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose Tollifson; husband Dale Oliver; son Lee Oliver; brothers George, PeeWee, and Gene; and sister Mickey Lemke.
