Diane R. Olson, 66

Diane Rose Olson, age 66, of Litchfield, formerly of Dassel, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born July 10, 1948, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Bernard “Ben” and Pearl (Shogren) Neis. Diane was baptized as an infant July 25, 1948, at St. Stevens Catholic Church in Minneapolis, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth in Minneapolis.

She received her education in Richfield, and was a graduate of the Richfield High School class of 1966. Diane furthered her education at a community college in Minneapolis.

She was united in marriage to George Olson May 17, 1975, at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church in Litchfield. This marriage was blessed with one son, Jason. Diane and George shared 39 years of marriage.

The family resided in Cokato and Dassel, before moving to Litchfield. George and Diane resided in Texas during the winter months.

Diane was employed at Prudential Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis as a facility manager for 30-plus years, retiring in 2000.

She attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin, where she was active with the Parish Council (CCW) serving as trustee. She also volunteered with church activities.

Diane enjoyed collecting antiques, tending to her flower gardens, and helping with Mary’s Garden at John’s Catholic Church in Darwin. She was a very organized person.

Diane especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, George Olson of Litchfield; son Jason Olson of Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Pearl Neis.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin, with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Saturday one hour prior to the Mass.
