Dorothy Rathmanner, 92

Dorothy E. Rathmanner, age 92, of Winsted, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continue Monday, at the funeral home, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Casket bearers will be Mike Rathmanner, Elise Whitesparks, Ryan Whitesparks, Dana Henn, Paul Henn, Kate Dietel, John Dietel, and Eric Rathmanner.

Dorothy was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Biscay, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Osmek.

She graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She worked at various one-room schoolhouses in McLeod County, at Winsted Public School, and substituted at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Winsted.

Dorothy and Ralph E. Rathmanner were joined in holy marriage July 29, 1948, at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Dorothy was a member of Winsted Legion Post 407 Auxiliary, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

She enjoyed dancing to big band music, working on crossword puzzles, bowling, and going for drives. Dorothy truly loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn White (fiancé Barry Childs) of Little Canada; a son, Gary Rathmanner (fiancée Maggie Schuette) of Winsted; daughter-in-law Rosie Rathmanner of Howard Lake; son-in-law Bruce “Buck” Uecker of Montrose; seven grandchildren: Kate, Dana, Mike, Elise, Eric, Joey, and Tyler; four great-grandchildren: Jaymon, Cole, Isaac, and Brooklyn; a brother, Leo (Claire) Osmek of Biscay; and many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Rathmanner; a daughter, Kathy Uecker; a son, Tom Rathmanner; her parents; and by a sister, Mary Lamp.
