Adela E. Rustad, age 92, of Waconia, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away Sunday June 15, 2014, at the Lighthouse in Waconia.
Adela was born Sept. 27, 1921, in rural Lester Prairie, the daughter of John and Lucy (Hoof) Dietel, and lived in Lester Prairie through her school years.
Following high school, she took nurse’s training at the St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault, and worked as a registered nurse for several years.
Adela married Stanley Rustad April 19, 1952, at the Reformed Evangelical Church in Lester Prairie. They lived in Golden Valley until a short time before Stanley’s retirement from General Mills in 1991, when they moved to Waconia.
Adela was a loving wife and mother, staying very close to her family. She and her family enjoyed traveling, and loved taking long motor trips every year, covering most of the United States, parts of Canada, and Alaska. Adela also traveled with her husband to parts of Europe, Israel, Mexico, and Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy Dietel; brothers Henry Dietel, Clarence Dietel, and Elmer Dietel; and sisters Linda Hoernemann, and Irene Klaustermeier.
Adela is survived by her loving family; husband Stanley Rustad of Waconia; children Mark Rustad of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Ruth Rustad of Minnetonka; son David (Pam) Rustad of Victoria; sister Leona Shultz of Glencoe; brother Raymond (Delores) Dietel of Lester Prairie; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Friday June 20 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Faith Rutz Lake Cemetery in Waconia.
