Jorge ‘Lalo’ Salas Obituary – 11/15/2014

Jorge “Lalo” Eduardo Salas, age 6, of Lester Prairie, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in a car accident near Cologne.

For every life there is a story. Some stories are longer than others; but it can be surprising how much impact a life can have on others in a very short time.

Jorge “Lalo,” a child of God, was born to Jorge and Angelica (Vazquez) Salas Dec. 4, 2007, in Waconia. He was baptized as an infant July 26, 2008, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe.

Jorge attended school at Church of St. Pius X Catholic School in Glencoe, where he will be remembered by classmates and faculty for his outgoing nature and brightly shining eyes.

Jorge was truly a miracle – a strong, polite, handsome young man with a radiant personality, always bringing brightness and joy to others. Anyone who met Jorge did not soon forget him, and he certainly never forgot them.

So warm-hearted, funny and charming, with a smile that could light up the room – you never walked away from spending time with Jorge not feeling good about yourself. From your first meeting, you knew he was special. He was one of those unique children that made the world a better place.

The Lord puts everyone on earth for a reason, and while with us, Jorge poured out the many blessings given him. By letting his light shine, he blessed our lives and left a song in our hearts.

Jorge enjoyed school, learning, pizza, brownies, Legos, Transformers and spending time with family and friends. Jorge took a piece of our hearts with him to heaven.

He is survived by his father, Jorge Salas of Lester Prairie; brother Omar Salas of Lester Prairie; grandparents Jorge and Barbara Salas of Lester Prairie, and Crispin and Angelina (Ruelas) Vazquez, all of Lester Prairie; uncles, aunts, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery. Father Anthony Stubeda officiated at the Mass. Kelly LeCrone and The Spanish Choir were song leaders, and Sue Mielke was the organist. Musical selections included “Pescador de Hombres,” “Entre Tus Manos,” “Vision Pastoral (Cien Ovejas),” “No Podemos Caminar,” “Que los Angeles Te Lleven al Pariso,” and “Soy Feliz.”

The Salas and Vazquez families were casket bearers.

Arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Lester Prairie. Online obituaries and guest Book are available at www.hantge.com; click on Obituaries/Guest Book.
