Terrance Scherping, 51

Terrance “Terry” Scott Scherping, age 51, of Winsted, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 11, 1963, in St. Cloud, the son of Art and Aggie (Riesner) Scherping.

Terry graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1981, and attended Ridgewater College in Hutchinson for tool & die.

He married Joann Laxen June 12, 1993, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Terry was the co-owner of AWI Manufacturing, Inc. in Winsted.

He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding his Harley, and four-wheeling with his family and friends.

Terry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Marcella Scherping, and Al and Julia Riesner.

Terry is survived by his much loved wife, Joann; and children, Jacob, Kassandra, MiKayla, and Mitchell, all of Winsted; his parents, Art and Aggie Scherping of Winsted; brothers and sisters, Gary (Kelli) Scherping of Winsted, Debbie (John) Travis of Chaska, Tom (Kristin) Scherping of Winsted, Brenda (Fritz) Westphal of Minneapolis, Dennis Scherping of Winsted, and Patty (Ron) Stellmaker of Victoria; father- and mother-in-law, Leo and Rita Laxen; brothers and sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, July 25 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Saturday, one hour prior to the Mass.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
