Frank A. Schroeder Obituary – 2/9/2014


Frank Albert Schroeder, age 89, of West Fargo, ND, formerly of McLeod County, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo.

Frank was born April 28, 1924, in Acoma Township, McLeod County, to Louis and Martha (Schultz) Schroeder. He attended School District 15 and finished his schooling through the eighth grade at Acoma Lutheran School.

As the 20th of 21 children in his family, Frank was deferred from being drafted during World War II because he had brothers already fighting in the war.

As a young man, Frank worked for area farmers.

He married Mary Sterner March 20, 1952, at Glencoe, and then worked for Fredrickson Well Drilling at Hutchinson.

In 1959, Frank and Mary moved to West Fargo, where Frank worked for LTP Enterprises, Inc. until his retirement.

Frank liked all types of sports. He especially enjoyed going to softball games to watch his sons play, and enjoyed fishing with them.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Stephen (Carol) and Douglas (Randi); three daughters, Karen (Curtis) Thomson, Sharon (Jeff) McDaniels, and Judy (Keith) Stroh, all of West Fargo; 10 very special grandchildren, Candida, Jesse (Jill) Thomson, Jeremy Thomson, Bryan and Kevin (Annette) Schroeder, Stacy (Leon) Grigsby, Tim McDaniels, and Kyle, Krista and Kelsey Stroh; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bruce; and 20 siblings.

The funeral took place Friday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo.
