Gordon M. Schroeder Obituary – 8/2/2014


Gordon M. Schroeder, age 82, of New Germany, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

He was born July 7, 1932, in Camden Township, the son of Martin and Selma (Mielke) Schroeder. Gordon was baptized July 31, 1932, and confirmed April 14, 1946, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.

He was united in marriage to Darlene Noerenberg Aug. 30, 1950, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., New Germany.

Gordon worked many different jobs throughout his life which included, hauling livestock for Lenzen and Rossing Trucking, transporting sweet corn for Green Giant, working at Borchart Steel, delivering fuel for 21 years, all while he was still farming.

He was a director for the New Germany Bank for a number of years, as well.

Gordon enjoyed playing cards, old tyme music, fishing, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Selma Schroeder; father-in-law and mother-in-law, August and Hilda Noerenberg; grandson Joseph Eggers; brother Erlen Schroeder; sister Doreen Stender; and brothers-in-law Leonard, Mylo, and Larry Noerenberg.

Gordon is survived by his loving family; wife Darlene; children and spouses Lynette and Allen Menth of Waconia, Lucinda and Dennis Eggers of Norwood Young America, Lyle and Cindy Schroeder of Green Isle, and Lori and Gary Kubasch of New Germany; grandchildren Tracy and Doug Rolf, James and Lynette Eggers, Jeffrey and Michelle Eggers, Brian and Holly Eggers, Sara Utendorfer and special friend Tony, Gabriel and Kim Schroeder, Laura Schroeder and special friend Adam, Nicholas Kubasch, and Chad Kubasch and special friend Tiffany; and great-grandchildren Emily and Derek Rolf, Shayna and Benjamin Eggers, Alexa, Mikayla, Madelyn and Chloe Eggers, Hailey Eggers, Allie Zimmer, Logan Jorgenson, Breea and Owen Utendorfer, and Elias, Micah, and Jude Schroeder.

He is further survived by sister-in-law Mavis Schroeder of Mayer; brother-in-law Sheldon Stender of Mayer; sisters–in-law and brother-in-law Carol Noerenberg of Mayer, Carol and John Waetjen of Waconia, Maureen Noerenberg of Watertown, and Margaret Noerenberg of Winsted; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Visitation took place Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m., at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and continued Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers were Doug Rolf, James Eggers, Jeff Eggers, Brian Eggers, Gabriel Schroeder, Nicholas Kubasch, and Chad Kubasch.
