Eleanor C. Schuster, 91

Eleanor Charlotte Schuster died March 18, 2014 at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Eleanor was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Hudson, WI to Charles and Elizabeth (Gillson) Stauffacher.

She attended high school in Marshall, MN and Hudson, WI, where she played the French horn as well as participating in a marching band from 8th through 12th grade. After graduation, Eleanor clerked in a small, privately owned grocery store until her marriage.

She married Fred Luder Schuster on Maya 23, 1942 in St. Andrew’s Church. Fred and Eleanor lived in Madison, WI until he was drafted into the Army in Dec. 1942 when she moved back to Minneapolis with her daughter Fritzine while Fred served in the Army until 1946. Daughter Linda and son Mark arrived after Fred was discharged from the service.

Eleanor, Fred, their children, and sister-in-law, Alice Stauffacher owned Uptown Pet in Minneapolis for many years.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Mary, grandchildren: Laura Osborn of Vergas, MN, Mandy, Melina, Marissa; 15 grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, four nieces, and eight nephews, along with many close family friends. Special friends include: Marvin (Whitey) and Jackie Robertson, and Wally Brandt of Howard Lake.

She was preceded in death by husband Fred, daughters, Linda Gladden, and Fritzine Madzo, son Mark Schuster, granddaughter Michelle Kunitz, grandson David Osborn, four brothers: Holley, Quentin, Dale, and Miles, two sisters: Shirley and Artice, and sister-in-law, Alice Stauffacher.
