Marvel F. Slanga, age 87, of Osseo, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away on her wedding anniversary, Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, in Brooklyn Center.
She was born May 27, 1927, to John and Clara (Littfin) Knoop.
Marvel married Francis Slanga Oct. 23, 1947. The couple owned and operated the Slanga Hardware store in Silver Lake.
They enjoyed traveling to the western US and visiting the national parks. They also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. They also spent time at their cabin near Maple Lake.
Marvel loved living in Silver Lake. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis; son Mark; and daughter Judy.
Marvel is survived by daughters Carol McLain, Connie Shovelin (Jim Buettner), and Barbara Toovey; grandchildren Michael Shovelin, Amanda McLain, Jillian McLain, Sarah Jappe, and Kelley Toovey; great-grandchildren Megan Meier and Davontey Parker; brother Ken (Marlys) Knoop; and sister Arlene Leier.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment was at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Arrangements were by the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. Memorials are preferred to North Memorial Hospice.
