Clarence A. Smykalski Obituary – 10/24/2014


Clarence A. Smykalski, age 88, of Columbia Heights, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Crestview Lutheran Home in Columbia Heights.

He was born April 17, 1926, on the family homestead east of Silver Lake, McLeod County, the son of Frank and Frances (Bachinski) Smykalski.

Clarence was formerly employed as a welder in the Minneapolis area.

He especially enjoyed polka music.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Celia Smykalski of Hutchinson; many cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hank and Ernie; and by a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Martin Yaeger.

Funeral services took place Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake with Father Tony Stubeda officiating. Interment followed at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Silver Lake.

There was visitation Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.

Casket bearers were Jim Noreen, Adam Noreen, Randy Frach, Jared Frach, Keith Butcher, and Anthony Zelazny.
