Gloria B. Snyder Obituary – 11/15/2014


Gloria Bernice Snyder, age 84, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel.

She was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Corning, AR, the daughter of William and Maggie (Mendenhall) Harpole. Gloria was baptized as an infant in Arkansas. She received her education in Corning, AR.

Gloria was united in marriage to Robert Snyder Oct. 8, 1961, in Coon Rapids. This marriage was blessed with 12 children; Buck, Jimmy, Steven, Wayne, Robert, Benny, John, Jim, Regina, Debbie, Audrey and Beverly.

Gloria and Robert resided in Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, and later moved to Minnesota. They shared 53 years of marriage until Robert passed away Sept. 6, 2011.

Gloria was employed at the Club 47 in Fridley, retiring in 1966.

She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel.

Gloria enjoyed fishing, canning, tending to her gardens, and working on crossword puzzles. She loved watching TV Land TV shows, and caring for everyone.

Gloria enjoyed life! She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Buck Foster, Jimmy Don Foster, John Snyder, Jim Snyder, Regina Snyder, Debbie Messenger, Audrey Green, and Beverly Sorg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Jane, Kathy, Billy Don, Willeanee and Sue; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maggie Harpole; sons Robert Stephens, Steve Foster, Wayne Stephens, and Benny Stephens; great-granddaughter Blair; great-grandson Javon Stephens; a sister, Pat; and a brother, Thomas.

Funeral services took place Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with Pastor Keith Carlson officiating. Harvey Peterson was the organist. Congregational hymns included “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “When We All Get To Heaven,” and “Amazing Grace.” Special music was “Glorious Day.”
