Michael J. Steeber Obituary – 4/21/2014


Michael James (Mike) Steeber, age 70, of Buffalo, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, after a long, hard battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Minneapolis, to James and Mary Ellen (Malark) Steeber.

Mike served in the US Navy from May 1961 to September 1964, earning a rank of SN. He then transferred to the US Navy Reserves until May 1967.

Mike retired at the end of December 2005, after 36 years of employment with Parker Hannifin Quick Coupling Division in Golden Valley. He began his career with Parker as a foreman, and held various positions including quality control supervisor, general foreman, senior tool engineer and facility engineer.

He enjoyed spending time at their lake home with family and friends, deer hunting with his buddies, fishing, watching the eagles fly, playing Yatzee, and watching western movies.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy; children Jason, and Mindy (Ron) Miller; a sister, Barb (Don) Glad; stepsiblings Karen Hanson, Bruce (Jan) Hanson, and Dale Hanson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Ellen; stepmother Laura Steeber; and stepbrother Larry Hanson.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment was in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were with Iten Funeral Home of Delano.
