Ryan M. Sturges Obituary – 7/23/2014


Ryan Michael Sturges, age 23, of Silver Lake, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

He was born Nov. 12, 1990, in Hutchinson, the son of Richard and Cathie (Schmidt) Sturges. Ryan was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

He attended Glencoe-Silver Lake High School.

Ryan was employed at Vasek and Hanson Construction in Hutchinson, and Lange farms in Glencoe. Currently he was employed at Ag Systems, Inc. in Hutchinson.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, and also a member of IMC Racing Group.

Ryan enjoyed endurance racing at Arlington, MN, mini rod pulling, and repairing small engines. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and ice fishing.

Ryan loved to have fun! He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Lilly.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Richard Sturges and his wife, Linda of Silver Lake; mother Cathie Sturges of Glencoe; brother Robert Sturges and his significant other, Stephanie of Hutchinson; sisters Stacy Dose and her husband, Donovan of Biscay, Charity Sturges and her significant other, Brad of Glencoe, and Kimberly Sturges and her significant other, Marzell of Shakopee; and his girlfriend, Chelsey Rossiter of Silver Lake.

Ryan is further survived by aunts and uncles Donald, Jr. Sturges and his wife, Tootie, Delbert Sturges and his wife, Marlys, David Sturges and his special friend, Gail, all of Hutchinson, Dale Sturges and his wife Betty of Brownton, and Donna Mae Kirchenwitz and her husband, Melvin of Excelsior; nieces and nephews Justin and Kaylee Dose, Paige Sturges, Mackenzie Sturges-Schlueter, Jaxon Schlueter, Morgan Pieper, Owen Lundeen, and Davion Brown-Sturges; his dog, Lilly; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald, Sr. and Ruth Sturges, and Louie and Hulda Schmidt; and an uncle, Charlie Schmidt.

Funeral services took place Tuesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Visitation was Monday, July 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson, and continued Tuesday, July 29 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel, and then one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements were handled by Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
